Chances are you're thrilled to be moving to Boston--but that doesn't make it any less stressful. Finding the least expensive interstate movers is a tricky business. One would think that comparing moving estimates and choosing the lowest moving quote would be the right way to secure a good deal. But hiring a mover isn't like hiring a sitter or buying a television. It's very difficult to know ahead of time how much moving to Boston will actually cost, because most companies are not willing to guarantee their estimate.
It's very common for a moving company to estimate a move at, say, $1000, then give you the bad news that the move will actually cost $2000, $3000, or even $4000, once they've packed the truck full of your belongings. You have no recourse at this point. Most people are forced to agree to the exorbitant actual price.
If you can find a company that will guarantee its estimate, hire them. If you can't, consider renting a truck and making the move yourself. You can hire a company to drive your car to

for you, or you can put a hitch on the back of the truck and tow it yourself.
